Every inch of this work is in a state of flux. The grain of the wood seems to be like the flow of the river and the delicately applied composition leave reminds you of the reflection of water. One Night in Chinatown was a night dominated by water during Stepanek’s year-long stay in the USA in 2011, which inspired him to name the piece for this very reason.
